About Android

Android, the Linuxbased platform for touchscreen based  devices such as SmartPhones and Tablets/slates/pads, is today  the fastestgrowing platform in this highlycompetitive space.  Running on a variety of devices, Android is an Open Source  platform released under the relatively permissible Apache  license.

Some of the factors that has accelerated the acceptance of  Android within the programming community is its open source  nature, the freeofcost development stack, the use of Java,  and the rich programming API that it provides.

About the Workshop

This 5day advanced Workshop in Android Programming takes  participants from the basics to the advanced topics as provided  in the Programme Outline. Participants are expected to be  exposed to the basics of Java programming, databases and  XML.

The programme is led by Saurabh Banga, Technical Officer,  CDAC, New Delhi.
