FDP on System Administration & Networking using FOSS Tools
Cell at College of Engineering Attingal, jointly with ICFOSS is
organising a 3 day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on System
Administration & Networking using FOSS, exclusively for faculty
members of MCA stream from various institutions across the State. The
Scheduled virtual FDP aims at providing exposure to the faculties on
various FOSS tools in system administration and networking and equip
them to design new laboratory experiments.
Objectives of the Course:
Technological university (KTU) has recently revised the syllabus of
Master of Computer Applications course. Several new technologies from
FOSS domain has been included in the course. The faculty and supporting
staff at institutions offering MCA course need skill up gradation for
effective delivery of new curriculum. ICFOSS and FOSS cell, College of
Engineering Attingal jointly offer such an intensive training program.
course is targeted mainly towards MCA faculty and supporting staff.
Faculty from other streams can also apply, if they are interested.
The broad outline of the course will be as follow
Introduction to Computer hardware
FOSS installation, Command line tools
File systems and configuration files
Shell scripting, System level scripts
Installation and deployment of LAMP stack
Installation and deployment of content management systems
Installation of FOSS software from source
Introduction to networking and networking tools
Packet capturing and analysis
Containers and virtual machines
course will enable faculty members to design and conduct laboratory
courses using FOSS tools. The course is intended to be hands on and each
participant will receive individual attention. Course material and
relevant software will be provided. The course will be conducted in
online format. Details will be communicated to selected participants.

faculty/supporting staff from MCA departments There will be no fee for
the course. Certificates will be issued by ICFOSS
